China Bolsters Output Almost 16% in First Three Quarters

Agrochemical output in China rose 15.7% in the first nine months of 2011, compared to the first three quarters of 2010. Total output for the first nine months reached 1.92 million tonnes, 32% of which was exported, according to CCPIA, the China Chemical Producers Industry Association.

Perhaps indicating more price stability for the industry, the value of the Chinese market rose in double digits as well. Total export value for the first three quarters reached $1.85 billion, a 44% rise since the same period last year.

Similarly, imported pesticide value rose 9% to $380,000. China imported 41,000 tonnes of pesticides, which breaks down to $9,268 per tonne, a 13.8% rise compared to last year.
The rising price of crop protection products bodes well for the industry as prices creep up from the doldrums experienced during the past couple years.

Herbicides accounted for almost 62% of all exported pesticide volumes, the value of which reached $1 billion, according to CCPIA. Price per tonne of herbicides is, on average, $2,653 so far this year. China’s fungicide export value rose 43.7% to $290 million, which breaks down to $5,000 per tonne for fungicides, according to CCPIA.
