Sumitomo Acquires Crop Protection Company In India

MUMBAI, India– Sumitomo Chemical Company recently expanded its Indian operations for crop protection products by acquiring a 100% shareholding in New Chemi Industries, an established agrochemical manufacturer headquartered in Mumbai, India, according to a press release.

New Chemi, established in 1961, has been a partner with Sumitomo Chemical in a joint venture since 2000.

New Chemi’s net sales totaled 714 million rupees in 2009.
