Best Agricultural Colleges from Around the World Ranked

QS World University rankings has, for the first time, produced a list of the best schools in agriculture and forestry. According to QS, the University of California, Davis (U.S.), Wageningen University (Netherlands) and Cornell University (U.S.) make up the world’s top three schools, with the schools from around the globe also making the list.

QS used four subject areas so compile the rankings:

  • The number of times research publications from the institution were cited by other researchers in professional journals
  • Opinions of other academics in the field
  • Opinions of employers in the field
  • The “H-index,” which measures the number of research papers published as well as the number of times those papers have been cited by other researchers, thus rewarding both the quantity and quality of the research.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject are prepared by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a British firm that previously was the data provider for the annual Times Higher Education rankings. According to University of California-Davis, the firm is widely considered to be one of the most influential international university rankings providers. This is the third year it has produced its own world university rankings, independent of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
