Brazil Coffee Strong
Coffee production in Brazil is up by nearly a quarter over 2005/06 to reach 44.8 million 60-kilogram (kg) bags, compared to 36.1 million bags in 2005/06, according to figures from the Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Higher production is due largely to the biennial production cycle of arabica trees, which are experiencing a high-production year and are expected to produce 34 million bags, up 8 million bags relative to 2005/06. Robusta trees will account for 10.8 million bags, up 7% from last season.
