China: Banned Pesticide Purge
A recently launched crackdown has already led to 10 arrests, 95 companies closed because they lacked appropriate licenses, and six more companies stripped of their business licenses, according to figures released by Gao Hongbin, China’s Vice Minister of agriculture.
The Ministry of Agriculture is "targeting 100% surveillance of large- and medium-sized cities" in the hunt for illegal pesticides and feed additives, Gao said in a Beijing press conference. Gao added that authorities are also targeting illegal production, sale, and application of several types of pesticides.
