China Considers Increase In Cotton Subsidies
The vice president of CCTIA called for government subsidies to maintain the sustainable development of domestic cotton production and to reduce the cost of textile production. She said the current price for imported cotton is already higher than the international market price and the "variable tariff rate" also raised cotton cost for textile enterprises. She added that the competitiveness of the textile industry is further eroded by the growing supply gap and appreciating Chinese currency.
