Dow Gets First Global Pyroxsulam Registration
“This new molecule will strengthen the company’s position as a leader in cereal herbicides by offering customers outstanding control of major grasses including Avena, Alopecurus, Apera, Bromus, Lolium, some species of Phalaris and many broadleaf weeds,” said Daniel R. Kittle, Ph.D., Dow AgroSciences vice president of Research and Development and Dow Core Biotechnology.
Dow says that pyroxsulam will complement the company’s existing portfolio and extend product lifecycles through proprietary mixes. It is a member of the triazolopyrimidine sulfonamide family and evaluations have shown positive environmental characteristics, including fewer rotational crop rotation restrictions than many existing options, the company said.
The Chilean registration is the first of many registrations expected by Dow, which has registrations of pyroxsulam expected in 45 countries including Australia, Canada, the US, and several European countries beginning in 2008.
