Dow Subject Of Buyout Rumors
Dow shares rose US $1.54, or 3.5%, in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. The group targeting Dow would probably bid $60 a share, the London-based Sunday Express said yesterday. Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., Blackstone Capital Partners LP, and Carlyle Group are among the parties potentially interested in aligning for a leveraged buyout in the next few weeks, the Express reported.
Dow would be broken up following a successful takeover, the Sunday Express reported. The company’s units include basic and specialty chemicals, plastics, and agriculture. Ownership of any divested Dow segments has not been established.
