Turkey OKs Arysta’s Iodomethane

TOKYO, Japan – Turkey has granted commercial registration for Arysta LifeScience’s Wapiti 98, an iodomethane-based broad-spectrum soil fumigant, the company has announced via press release. Developed as a replacement for methyl bromide, iodomethane has shown comparable results to the fumigant, which is being phased out of use.

Wapiti 98 will be distributed in Turkey through agrochemical producer and marketer CANSA, which joins Arysta LifeScience Europe in a local training and stewardship program for Wapiti 98. Arysta LifeScience Europe has also developed a drip application method for Wapiti 98 using patented Symmetry technology.

Iodomethane is commercially registered as Midas in the US and Yokafume in Japan, and is pending registration in Australia, New Zealand, Morocco, Israel, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Chile. The product is currently in development in many other countries, according to Arysta LifeScience.
