10 January 2008 If crop replanting is necessary, Cotton Plus Replant offers investment protection on Monsanto-branded seeds and traits.
Financing will be more of a one-stop shop, according to Godwin, and the replant program should be greatly assist Southeastern growers who grow cotton, corn, beans and other crops from year-to-year. “Making these multi-crop planting decisions in the past has been a last-minute decision for many growers, and that involves extra risk,” he said. “Our program is designed to address the risks that accompany cropping flexibility. The basic design of these programs comes from what we’ve been providing corn and soybean growers in the Midwest for the past several years.” Describing the plans’ benefits, Godwin continued: “We are offering investment protection on the crop planted initially, as well as seed investment protection if you replant with a different qualifying seed crop.”
