Fungal Seed Treatment Gains US EPA Approval

Connecticut, US-based Chemtura Corp. received a US Environmental Protection Agency registration for RANCONA Apex, a new seed amendment for wheat and barley seed, according to a company press release.

RANCONA Apex is highly efficacious against a majority of seed and soil-borne fungi in the plant pathogenic fungal classes of Zygomycetes, Ascomycetes, Basidiomycetes and Fungi Imperfect (Deuteromycetes) which cause seed decay, damping-off and seedling blight, according to Chemtura. RANCONA Apex contains ipconazole, a triazole fungicide in a more user-friendly form.

RANCONA Apex is a microdispersion formulation that is specially designed for cereal crops. It features an extremely low viscosity, minimal sediment, and is easier to work with. It provides good seed coloration, low dust, uniform coverage and excellent flowability of treated seeds.
