India: Bt Cotton Demand Up 30%

Raj Ketkar, joint managing director of the company, was quoted in the Indian journal The Hindi as saying that growth has been “phenomenal” during the past five years, with 2.2 million farmers planting Bollgard varieties in nine cotton-growing states. Ketkar said the past and continued adoption trends demonstrate how farmers are “showing increased acceptability” to the GM crop.
