India: Normal Monsoon To Ease Inflation
The Indian Meteorological Dept. (IMD) called for near normal monsoon rains, which is a good sign for the kharif (summer) crops, which could help ease pressure on commodity prices, stated the US Dept. of Agriculture’s Foreign Agriculture Service (USDA-FAS).
The IMD will release an updated forecast in June, at which point it will also issue its prediction for each region in the country.
A good monsoon will help increase the prospects for crops such as rice, corn, pulses, soybeans, peanuts, and sunflowers, which are primarily rainfed.
