Industry Murmurs: Manufacturer Trouble China
14 August 2007 Most immediately pressing is a reported change in the country’s tax rebate. One ag-chem manufacturer told FCI that the Chinese government may cancel the tax rebate completely by the end of September for all agrochemical products. If this policy indeed comes to pass, the manufacturer said, "we will suffer another 5% higher cost."
Another contact in China recently told FCI that China is also hitting a glyphosate shortage, due in part to factories being shut down per the country’s tougher stance on environmental standards.
