International Soybean Alliance Formed
ISGA is a step forward in building cooperation among competitive industry organizations, which have been turned against each other by issues such as subsidies and intellectual property rights and royalty fees for biotech products.
Together, the ISGA member countries are responsible for more than 80% of the world’s soybean production. According to an ISGA release, executives of the group expect to integrate Paraguay and tentatively other soybean-producing countries into the alliance.
IGSA is a conglomeration of several major producer associations, including the American Soybean Association International Marketing (ASAIM), US Soybean Export Council (USSEC), the United Soybean Board (USB), Soybean Producers Association of Mato Grosso (APROSOJA), and the Soybean Chain Association of Argentina (ACSOJA).
ISGA plans to make the Indian market its first focus, where it wishes to jointly promote the utilization of soybean meal.
