The International Symposium on Adjuvants for Agrochemicals took place in Columbus, Ohio, US in August, pulling together the world’s premier adjuvant companies for a rich series of presentations from leaders in the adjuvant field.

Led this year by ISAA 2007 Director Jim Hazen of Akzo Nobel Surfactants, ISAA provided a platform for technical presentations, studies on adjuvant performance, and technologies on the cutting edge of the industry.

With the majority of adjuvants used in conjunction with herbicides, the hottest topic at the event was glyphosate. Many different presentations examined approaches and factors in delivering glyphosate to plants in the most effective manner possible.

But glyphosate was not the only topic addressed. Of general interest were first-day presentations by Matthew Phillips and John McDougall of Phillips McDougall AgriService, and Allen Underwood of Helena Chemical Co.

In fact, some interesting presentations looked away from glyphosate to explore other areas where opportunities still exist for the expanded use of adjuvants. Possibilities in new, low-toxicity chemicals, niche products, and fungicides are all leading candidates for the next wave of adjuvant adoption.

ISAA 2007 also featured tours to numerous area businesses and attractions and several networking events.
