John Beck Resigns As ICA Director General

Beck, 61, a civil engineer and lawyer with trade association and arbitration experience joined the ICA in January 2005. Prior to his ICA service he consulted on dispute resolution and contract management practices. He also had served as the International Director of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He began his career as a chartered civil engineer, specializing in contracts management with the City of Liverpool’s Northwest Water Authority. Subsequently, he gained postgraduate qualifications in Business Management, Law and Arbitration. Returning to the ICA to succeed Beck is Kai Hughes, who once served as the Business Manager of the Liverpool Cotton Association. Hughes is currently employed at the University of Manchester.
