Malaysian Palm Oil Hits Double-Digit Growth

Crude Palm Oil (CPO) production in Malaysia rose 12% in August to 1.5 million metric tons (MMT), according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agriculture Service (USDA-FAS). Another anticipated 5% to 6% increase in September would bring forecasts of 15.5 MMT of CPO output for 2005-06 within reach.

The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) notes that While output in Peninsular Malaysia increased by 9.4%, East Malaysia’s production surged 15.6% higher than July, and compared to August 2005, output during August 2006 was 13% higher.
