Monsanto Forms Seed Holding Company
Over the last year, Monsanto’s Seminis unit concentrated its business portfolio to 25 central crops, including Western and Poloni’s main crops of tomatoes, peppers, and melons. ISG’s access to Western and Poloni’s germplasm libraries and research, combined with Seminis’ resources – particularly with molecular markers in melons – are expected to cut development timelines by years, according to Poloni’s Guillaume Lacarriere.
Lacarriere directs research and business operations for Poloni, while Alois va Vliet remains Managing Director of Western Seed. ISG will be managed by seed industry veterans Anthony Padgett and David Atkinson.
