Monsanto VP To Retire; Successor Named

Monsanto Company announced that Robert A. Paley, Vice President and Treasurer, will retire effective Jan. 31, 2009 after 38 years of service to the company. Tom D. Hartley, who has served a variety of roles in the company since 1992 and most recently held the position of Director, International Finance, has been named Vice President and Treasurer effective Dec. 8, 2008. In order to affect an orderly transition, Paley will serve Monsanto as Special Assistant and Advisor to the CFO through Jan. 31, 2009.
