Poland Considers GM Ban

Poland, the biggest food producer among the 10 new EU states that joined Union in 2004, fears potential future sowings of GM crops could lead to contamination of other crops and make the transition to the EU more difficult.

The minority ruling government party has repeatedly expressed its desire for a GM-free Poland, and parliamentary deputies have been working on several draft bills on the issue.
