Poland: EU Funds Roll In

Within Poland, the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARMA) will be responsible for administration of the RDP, which has four major parts:

  1. Improve the competitiveness of the agriculture and forestry sectors – this includes using pensions and buyouts for older farmers and incentives and mechanisms for making farm operations more efficient; it also includes fund for technology and equipment upgrades.
  2. Improve the environment and develop rural areas – this will help farmers in mountainous regions, give funds to conservation areas, and support on-farm environmental activities.
  3. Improve the quality of life and economic diversification in rural areas – this will include support for new jobs and improvements to rural businesses.
  4. Leadership development – this covers assistance for creating local management opportunities and developing inter-regional cooperation.
