PotashCorp, Striking Workers Reach Tentative Agreement

Canada-based PotashCorp has reached a tentative agreement with about 500 striking workers at its Allan, Cory, and Patience Lake potash operations in Saskatchewan, reports Chemical Week. The striking employees are represented by United Steelworkers’ Union (USW), which won’t release details of the agreement until the workers review and vote on the offered package.

The strike began on August 7, 2008, amid accusations that PotashCorp pays lower wages than other major mining operations, even while benefitting from what USW describes as "far more profit per worker."
