Punjab Chemicals Eyeing New Acquisitions

Avtar Singh, director – operations and business development of Punjab Chemicals & Crop Protection Ltd (PCCPL), has announced that in a bid towards expansion: "We are looking at three to four agrochemicals companies based in the US and Europe for the purpose of acquisition by way of studying their product portfolios and number of registration that these companies have for their products. We are eyeing new markets such as South America, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and Australia in order to tap potential here."

The company was not eyeing big overseas manufacturers; however, it is interested in only those that have a large number of registrations in other countries for selling agrochemical products, Singh added. Recently, PCCPL set up an agreement with a Japanese firm to supply 100 tonnes of intermediate herbicide for five years. PCCPL is also expecting to launch one or two new agrochemical products for commercial production this year.
