Rallis India Doubles Year-on-Year Profit
Rallis India announced its financial results for the year ending March 31, 2008, which included a 115% profit increase over the previous year, reports The Financial. The profit level represents the largest ever achieved by the company.
The company’s performance during was driven by improvements in its operations and improved income. Disha, the enterprise value creation program developed by the company, and Apollo, its initiative to drive international business growth, both contributed well to the year’s performance. V Shankar, CEO and executive director of the company said, “Rallis’s strong performance reflects the gains of the various change initiatives undertaken during the year such as Disha and Apollo. I am pleased that the new products such as Applaud, Taqat, and Takumi have been well received by the farmers. The process improvements as well as people initiatives have also helped the company to strengthen its core competencies of market access and customer relationships.”
Rallis’ recently launched brand Applaud has performed well in the rice areas across India, particularly to control of Brown Plant Hoppers. Four other new products in the Indian market launched during the year — Takumi, Sedna, Royal and Ishaan — have also performed well. In addition, the company has obtained more than 20 new registrations in different countries and a joint registration for one of its key products in the US market.
