Researchers Unlock Corn Genome

A group of US researchers have completed a map of the genetic sequence of corn, according to a CNN article. The project is expected to help companies develop new corn varieties.

Led by Washington University, the US $29.5 million genome mapping project was begun in 2005 and funded by the National Science Foundation, the US Department of Agriculture, and the US Department of Energy.
