A Hungarian-U.S. consortium has announced its intention to build an ethanol plant in the town of Zrenjanin in northern Serbia with production capacity of 680,000 tons of fuel ethanol that will use wheat and corn as feedstock. The state-of-the-art facility is to be completed by the end of 2009 and could process up to one million tons of wheat and 500,000 tons of corn annually into ethanol. It will also produce about 400,000 tons of animal feed (distilled dry grain) and 100,000 tons of organic fertilizer.
