South Australian Growers Rue GM Decision
12 February 2008 Growers in South Australia are angry and disappointed at the the government’s decision to extend a moratorium on biotech crops.
Farmers say the decision denies them choice puts them years behind the advancing GM-using states of Victoria and New South Wales.
The State Government’s reasoning is that the ban will help maintain South Australia’s clean green image, while growers point to reduced pesticide use in GM crops as proof to the contrary.
