Syngenta To Build Chinese Biotech Center
Syngenta plans to construct a major global biotechnology research center in Beijing, according to the company’s web site.
In mid-April, Syngenta announced its plan to dedicate the Chinese center to the early stage evaluation of genetically modified (GM) and native traits for crops such as corn and soybeans to improve yields, drought resistance, disease control, and biomass conversion for use in biofuel plants.
The new facility will complement Syngenta’s biotech research activities in the US. The investment will be approximately US $65 million in the first five years.
