The 2008 International Crop Science Conference and Exhibition will be held on Jan. 24-25 at the Sheraton Subang Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hosted by the Pesticide Manufacturers & Formulators Association of India (PMFAI) and the Basic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Cosmetics Export Council (CHEMEXCIL) and set up by the Indian government’s Ministry of Commerce, the event will draw many attendees from Asia and around the world.

With the theme of “Emerging Technologies for Crop Care & Biotechnology,” the conference will feature presentations on many hot-button technological issues for the global ag industry. Topics include the role of crop protection in sustainable agriculture; molecular biology and the discovery of new molecules; the search for new action sites; monitoring ag-chem residues; resistance management; generic pesticides and regulations; pesticide application and safety factors; biotechnology for pest protection and yield; consortium management; the effect of EU’s REACH on intermediates; and a meeting of regulatory authorities from ASEAN countries.
