Unapproved GM Rice Found In US
23 August 2006 It is not clear from where the GM rice originated. Field tests on the rice were ended in 2001, and Bayer does not market any types of the rice in the US.
Bayer Cropscience has in the meantime applied for approval in the US for the rice type. However, the company says that it does not intend to market this type of rice in the country.
