BiOWiSH Partners with ADM and SABIC AN to Support Sustainable Agriculture

SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company (SABIC AN) is collaborating with two U.S.-based companies, ADM and BiOWiSH Technologies, to help farmers achieve higher production in a sustainable and cost-effective manner.

Credited for the world’s first independent certifications for low-carbon ammonia and blue hydrogen production from TÜV Rheinland, SABIC AN aims to help reduce the carbon footprint in the agricultural supply chain through the collaboration.

SABIC AN’s portfolio includes biologically enhanced urea fertilizer powered by BiOWiSH, which based on early peer-reviewed research, has the potential for lower greenhouse gas emissions than conventional urea as well as the potential for increased sequestration of atmospheric carbon dioxide into the soil.

Focusing on a 50,000-acre pilot project, farmers in the midwestern United States will use SABIC AN’s Bio-Enhanced Urea for the 2023 growing season and sign up for the ADM Re:Generations Program, which provides financial and technical support to producers who newly adopt or continue current regenerative agriculture practices. The pilot will collect data that will enable better understanding of the emission reductions that can be achieved with bio-enhanced urea.

“SABIC Agri-Nutrients is committed to carbon neutrality by 2050, and we do so by launching new products that enable sustainability throughout our value chain,” said Radwan Abdallah, senior manager, SABIC AN. “SABIC Agri-Nutrients is leading the industry in innovative agri-nutrient production. By utilizing advanced technologies to deliver premier products, we can sustainably help enable higher yields of quality crops to feed an ever-growing global population.”
