Vietnam To Import Fertilizer Until 2020

VOV News reports that Vietnam spent over US $1 billion on fertilizer and crop protection chemicals imports during the past 8 months, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Annually, the country needs 7 to 8 million tonnes of fertilizer, but domestic production currently only meets 50% of market demand. From now until 2020, Vietnam will have to import over 500,000 tonnes of fertilizer, including urea, DAP and kali, each year.

Vietnam expects domestic production to meet market demand in 2020.
