Bharat Rasayan Limited Developing Eco-Friendly Molecules

Scroll Down to Read

How did your company deal with the challenges of the last couple of years?

Inspite of COVID-19 challenges, last year Bharat Rasayan Limited (BRL) was able to fulfill the demand of its customers due to work done by team at both manufacturing facilities. We increased our capacity of meta phenoxy benzaldehyde (MPBD) and also started manufacturing CMAC, as part of backward integration that made us globally competitive for molecules like: alphacypermethrin, cypermethrin, lambdacyhalothrin, and permethrin.

We were able to make inroads in the United States market with the registration of bifenthrin, lambdacyhalothrin, metribuzin, sulfosulfuron and zeta cypermethrin. We also expanded in the Brazil market as per our strategy by registering bifenthrin, lambdacyhalothrin, and chlorpyriphos, and soon will be getting the registrations for alphacypermethrin, cypermethrin, diafenthiuron, tebuconazole, and zeta cypermethrin.

Currently, BRL has two manufacturing plants at Haryana and Dahej, Gujarat. We will have a new greenfield third manufacturing facility starting production on December 2024 with full focus on backward integration.

BRL has JV company with Nissan Chemical Ltd Japan “Nissan Bharat Rasayan Pvt Ltd” which will start its manufacturing operation this month. Major focus of this unit will be manufacturing of patented molecules for Nissan Chemical Ltd Japan’s global requirements.

The last six months have been quite challenging for agrochemical industry as a whole due to weak demand in global market and significant downward correction of various raw materials from China. However, things are bound to improve in the coming future.

How is your company expanding its research and development work?

BRL is committed toward improving farm profitability and sustainability through advancement in research and development (R&D) and commercialization of eco-friendly novel crop protection molecules. BRL is committed to reducing the carbon footprint and has already started visible work in this direction.

The company has its own recognized two R&D centers focusing on molecules synthesis and process development for various eminent MNC and Japanese partners. Some of the major products include: alphacypermethrin, bifenthrin, cypermethrin, ethion, lambdacyhalothrin, penoxsulam, permethrin, metribuzin, tolfenpyrad, thiamethoxam, and zeta cypermethrin etc.

Over the past seven years, BRL laboratories have successfully completed ten projects in the development and commercialization of new active ingredients (AI) and intermediates for our various MNC and Japanese partner. Continuous work is being done by both the R&D centers to add more novel molecules in our existing portfolio for global market and some interesting voluminous AI and intermediates will be commercialized in couple of years.
