What do you see as the biggest opportunity which will have a major impact in 2023?
In recent years, a number of significant sustainability strategies have emerged on a global scale, such as the EU Green Deal and The Long-Term Strategy of the United States. Largely in response to the Paris Agreement, these strategies are designed to achieve the goals of that agreement and offset a broad range of challenging issues.
A major focus of global food production will be characterized by sustainable agricultural practices.
Eurofins Agroscience Services’ contribution sits mainly in the early stages of the entire value chain — concentrating on the farming and harvesting process. In partnership with our clients, we support product development and innovation in the area of seeds, crop protection, farming practices, and post-harvest management tools.
Real advancement in the area of innovative technologies, especially in the plant protection arena, has been observed over the last few years. Working with a broad variety of originators such as major corporates, small- and medium-sized enterprises, and university institutions, we are committed to training our organization in all these innovative technologies. This means that Eurofins Agroscience Services will continue to support the agricultural industry in the best possible way, providing a significant contribution for global sustainability initiatives.
Digitalization is significant and impacts our operations on a day-to-day basis, reshaping existing business models and providing new opportunities. As a market-leading contract research organization (CRO), we are keeping pace with digital standards and are committed to the process of digitalizing our internal operations.
What new product launches or major developments are happening within your organization?
We are currently witnessing a tremendous technology revolution in the agricultural space, and with that, traditional research and innovation patterns are being disrupted.
One of the most significant changes sees a shift toward the importance of start-ups, seeing this sector taking market priority in the research and innovation (R&I) agricultural space.
Eurofins Agroscience Services has developed a novel business model that fits this new R&I eco-system. Our R&D Start-up Platform enables start-ups to advance innovation based on the know-how, infrastructure, and capabilities of our group in a very flexible and efficient manner, providing bespoke registration services to ensure regulatory acceptance.
In addition, we work with the seed industry to accelerate the introduction of new traits with our unique seeds solutions, combining field and testing capabilities for trait introgression and plant health, as well as new seed processing and treatment capabilities.
With this contribution to innovation, we aim to shape and accelerate the future of sustainable agriculture.
