AMVAC Mexico and Biotor Labs Launch Two Biopesticides in Mexico

Biotor Labs, a Nicaraguan company that specializes in the development, formulation, and manufacture of bioinsecticides, biofungicides, and bionematicides, has announced the launch of Trichomax and Klamic in Mexico. These are two new biological products that control soilborne diseases and nematodes in various crops.

Trichomax is a biofungicide that contains Trichoderma asperellum, and Klamic is a bionematicide that contains Pochonia chlamydosporia. Both products have highly effective strains that are adapted to diverse environments, making them suitable for worldwide use. They also have wettable powder formulations that can be applied with specialized agricultural equipment.

Trichomax and Klamic are classified as Low Risk products by the Mexican Commission of Phytosanitary Risk Analysis (COFEPRIS), which certifies their low impact on human health and the environment. Only 20% of the active substances approved within the Mexican Union fall within this classification. The products have undergone rigorous and comprehensive toxicological and ecotoxicological studies that confirm their safety.

Luis Fernando Torres, Biotor Labs’ General Director, says Trichomax and Klamic have a differential and innovative value compared to other solutions on the market. He highlights five key points: “the low-risk phytosanitary nature of the active agents, the chemical-free formulations, the wettable powder presentation, the strains and formulation differentiation and innovation, and the solid and extensive scientific research that supports their efficacy.”

Torres states that Trichomax and Klamic have excellent efficacy results in the field, and they are aligned with the current regulatory framework and the consumer demands and needs.

“Trichomax and Klamic are the biological products designed for the new generation of farmers that understand the importance of integrating biologicals that complement conventional systems, reducing resistance of diseases and pests, and improving their efficacy. They also increase nutrient absorption, due to healthier and more robust root systems,” he says.

Torres adds: “We are confident that Trichomax and Klamic will mark a turning point in the development of treatments within their segment: because of their exclusive formulations, efficacy, results, and compatibility with the environment. They also provide a remarkable uniformity and overall plantation, due to their colonization and sustainability in the soil, during the entire crop cycle. This guarantees yield increments that will boost your productivity and profitability.”

These products are already available in Nicaragua, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Panama through their distributor AMVAC Latam. The company expects to obtain the phytosanitary registration of Trichomax and Klamic for distribution and use in the Mexican market by the beginning of 2025.

“We are very excited about this opportunity to work together with Biotor Labs in the development of their materials in Mexico,” said Marco Salcedo, AMVAC Mexico’s General Director. “We have had the opportunity to analyze several materials and corroborate how the strain makes a big difference in the performance of the product. Both Trichomax and Klamic have demonstrated a superior effect in the field, so they will surely be a tool of great value for the producer in Mexico.

“Furthermore, we have seen that shelf life in biological products where we are talking about living organisms, is essential and we can undoubtedly offer added value to our customers. The excellent results that AMVAC has had in export areas of Central America and the Andean region reinforce our confidence in this alliance that will bring great benefits to our users.”

Biotor Labs has announced a program of launch events and technical presentations of the products in Mexico. The sessions will take place in the main fruit, vegetable and grain growing areas of the central, northern, and southern regions of the country. During this campaign, the company will be joined by the technical team of AMVAC Mexico, a distributor of Biotor Labs products in Mexico.

The launch program is under review and is planning to include launching events in main production areas in México. The exact dates and locations of the events will be announced soon.
