Vietnam, Brazil Discuss Ag Cooperation

In a recent meeting in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Vietnamese and Brazilian businesses discussed investment and trade opportunities in agriculture and food processing, says China View. At the meeting — organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the Brazilian embassy in Vietnam — Vietnamese businesses exchanged information with Brazilian partners in food and agricultural product processing, said Nguyen The Hung, deputy director of the VCCI.

Vietnam mainly exports seafood, vegetables, garment and handicrafts to Brazil and imports wheat, milk and dairy products, wood, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and plastic from the South American country, said Hung. In 2008, two-way trade between Vietnam and Brazil reached over US$556 million. Of the total, Vietnam brought in $138 million from exports, according to the VCCI.
