Arysta Gains Registrations in UK, Vietnam

Arysta LifeScience introduced products to two new markets this week. The company’s Centurion Max herbicide, a 120g/l clethodim emulsion concentrate product, gained final regulatory approval in the United Kingdom. The DIM-class herbicide controls grass and broadleaf weeds in crops. The product is gaining popularity with farmers who experience resistance to ACCase herbicides, according to Arysta.

“Centurion Max is a very broad-spectrum herbicide, registered in more than 15 European countries, controlling grass-weeds in sugar beet, oilseed rape, sunflower, potatoes, flax and peas,” Europe Herbicide Product Manager Christophe Sepulchre de Condé said in a press release.

Distribution rights have been granted to UK-based Interfarm Limited.

“Interfarm UK sells products through a national distribution network, and I am sure that our customers will be pleased to be able to market this herbicide to farmers, Interfarm Managing Director John Martin said in a statement.

In Asia, Arysta LifeScience Vietnam Co. partnered with Dow AgroSciences in Ho Chi Minh City to launch Closer, a 500WG sulfoxaflor product for new brown plant hoppers (BPH) on rice.

The product launch was announced at a seminar entitled, “BPH and management of insect resistance,” which was held in Can Tho City, Vietnam. Participants at the seminar included Vietnamese agricultural experts, representatives of the Plant Protection Department (PPD), sub-PPDs in Mekong delta, wholesalers, retailers and farmers who have applied CLOSER 500WG in their own rice fields.

In Mekong Delta, Arysta LifeScience has conducted field demonstrations, trial use samples and technology transfer to farmers, in collaboration with local plant protection stations.

“Feedback from farmers has been encouraging,” Arysta Vietnam Country Manager Tran Duc Van said in a press release. “Field trials are now in progress to assess the robustness of Closer 500WG control on whiteflies, aphids and mealy bugs in vegetables and fruit crops.”

Arysta LifeScience Vietnam, the distributor of the product, will implement marketing activities and technical transfer to farmers.
