Pakistan Bans Onion Exports To India

Pakistan recently banned onion land exports to India, citing an increased likelihood of shortage due to India’s reduction of import taxes, according to an article in BBC News.

India’s implementation of import taxes and heavy rains in the southern states caused prices to triple in recent weeks.

Pakistan continues to export onions to India via sea routes, but land shipments are quicker and more cost efficient, according to the article.
