CAC Expands

Piggybacked on the success of the largest agrochemical show on Earth, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) is expanding its tradeshow business to include an autumn offering. The venue of the new event will stay the same, the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Center. But the show will be smaller than the giant that attendees have come to expect from the March show.

The CAC spring show booked around 1,000 booths and welcomed more 9,000 people to Shanghai.

China is an important market for agrochemical producers and suppliers because many of the raw ingredients and technical materials that compose proprietary formulations originate in China.

The Chinese agrochemical market is also an attractive vehicle for investors. In March, investment firm Shanghai Securities said the chemical sector outpaced the Heng Seng index in 2008 and early 2009, and many investors consider it a growth industry, even though market competition, global trade and environmental requirements is forcing the consolidation or closure of smaller, less sophisticated enterprises.
