FAO: Record Rice Production In 2010

NEW YORK — The United Nations Food and Agrigriculture Organization (FAO) expects India and Asia to recover from drought this year, increasing global rice production 4% to a record 710 million metric tons, according to Bloomberg.

Indian output is expected to grow 15% to 151 million tons, according to an FAO report. In the Philippines — the world’s biggest rice importer — production could increase 9% to 17.4 million tons.
