Nufarm Expands Seed Business Through Sorghum Acquisitions

Australia-based Nufarm Ltd is expanding its seed business through the acquisition of Texas based sorghum companies Richardson Seeds Ltd. and MMR Genetics Ltd., reports Proactive Investors. The two businesses had combined sales of US $22 million in 2008. Nufarm did not provide financial details of the acquisitions.

Richardson produces and markets sorghum seed hybrids, mainly to the US market but also to Mexico, South America, Europe, Japan and the Middle East. It is also the headquarters for sorghum breeding/research company MMR Genetics, which develops sorghum seed collections for use by seed companies worldwide.
