Import Tariffs to Be Lifted on Napa Cabbage, Radish

The Korean Agriculture Ministry plans to temporarily waive tariffs on all imports of napa cabbage and radish until the end of the year to stabilize prices and deal with supply shortages, according to a report by The Chosen Ilbo.

The government plans to import 100 tonnes of napa cabbage, as well as 50 tonnes of radish from China in October.

Critics say policy fails to prevent long-term supply shortfalls. Napa cabbage is a main ingredient in a popular type of kimchi, a spicy delicacy in Korea.
