Monsanto Wins Battle for Genetically Modified Crops

Monsanto Co. won a battle that would have required the company to destroy its crop of genetically-modified sugar beets, according to Bloomberg.

A judge’s panel overturned a previous order to get rid of the beets which are resistant to Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide. The original ruling, which was decided on November 30, would have required the company to get rid of 256 acres of the genetically modified crop. However, appeals courts ruled that organic seed organizations were unable to prove pollen from the genetically modified sugar beets damages natural crops, according to the story.
