BASF Expands Asia Portfolio

  • Kai Tse fungicide (boscalid). Launched in Japan and South Korea and approved in China in 2006, it will be sold for use on on fruits and vegetables. Boscalid was launched in Japan and South Korea last year.
  • Cabrio Top fungicide (pyraclostrobin + metiram). Scheduled for launch in India in the next few months, the product met Japanese approval in late 2006.
  • A metaflumizone-based insecticide for fruits and vegetables launched with Nihon Nohyaku. Already approved in Indonesia, Colombia, and Austria, the insecticide is expected to be launched in India and China this year.

BASF said it aims to increase its business in China and India, where the company sees potential in the fast-growing high value fruits and vegetables sectors.
