China’s Pesticide Price Hikes Aggravated by Heating Season Environmental Policy

China provides central heating in northern regions from November 15 to March 15 and large quantities of coal are used during this period, resulting in a lot of fog and haze pollution, according to an article by Lin Fang on ChemLinked.com. To transfer more environmental capacity, Chinese ministries jointly issued and implemented two programs targeting air pollution during the heating season and mandatory off-peak production. The new programs will be adopted in Jing-Jin-Ji region and surrounding areas (Beijing, Tianjin and other 26 municipal cities in Hebei, Shandong, Henan and Shanxi provinces).

Hundreds of pesticide and intermediate producers would be disrupted, and high prices should continue throughout next year.
