Brussels Joins Other EU Countries with Fungicide Registration

BASF’s next generation fungicide, Xemium, has been approved in Brussels for use in crop protection products.

“We have many years of experience with carboxamides and are thrilled that Xemium has achieved this important milestone so quickly,” said Jürgen Oldeweme, head of the Global Product Safety and Registration Unit at BASF’s Crop Protection division. “This listing helps us to continue providing farmers with a portfolio of innovative products that support efficient, sustainable farming.”

Xemium, already available for use in France, Germany and the UK, is effective against a broad spectrum of key plant diseases, especially Septoria leaf blotch. These features, particularly when combined with azoles, allow for more efficient and flexible disease control.

BASF plans to obtain registrations for products containing Xemium in all EU-member countries. Globally, registration plans include more than 100 crops in more than 50 countries. Xemium recently launched in the U.S. for soybeans, corn and specialty crops.
