FAO Names Three Senior Appointments

Alexander Müller of Germany has been appointed Head of the Sustainable Development Department; José Francisco Graziano da Silva of Brazil is the new Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean, to be based in Santiago, Chile; and Jan Erik Heino of Finland has been appointed the new Head of the Forestry Department.

Müller is the former State Secretary of the Ministry of Hesse, a Member of Parliament and a member of the Committee on Environmental Affairs. He also served as State Secretary to the Federal Ministry of Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture of Germany, as a Member of the Agriculture Council of the EC and Coordinator of Federal Research Institutes.

Graziano da Silva is a doctor and professor of Economics at the State University of Campinas. He is the former Minister of Food Security and the Fight against Hunger of the Federative Republic of Brazil and Senior Advisor to the President of Brazil on Economic and Social Matters.

Heino is a former Director-General of the Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Finland, and currently Director-General of Metsahallitus, the Finnish State Forest Enterprise.
