Swiss Researchers Develop Enhanced Rice

A test was conducted in Bangalore on 134 primary school children between five and nine years old suffering from iron deficiency. Some of the children were given meals including the iron-fortified rice for 16 weeks. The percentage of high lead levels among the children fell from 65& to 29%, and while 78% of the children were found to be iron deficient before the test, only 29% still tested positive for deficiencies afterwards.
